Located 5 miles NE of Sigourney, Iowa
The Belva Deer Recreation Area is the Keokuk County Conservation Board's largest and most heavily used area. It is located two miles east and two miles north of Sigourney. Facilities at the 1,669 acre park include eight picnic shelters, camping areas, showers with flush toilets, eight miles of hiking and horse trails, seven fishing ponds, and a 260 acre lake. The lake has a large beach area on the north side of the lake with plenty of space for family gatherings.

The neoclassical building, built in 1910, contains a display of Indian relics in the lobby. The upper stories contain 4 murals painted by C.E. Rang of Chicago in 1912. There are also large oil paintings of Lydia Huntley Sigourney and Chief Keokuk and a stained glass dome.

Wednesday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Group tours by appointment. The Historical Society houses a museum of Keokuk County artifacts and a genealogy department with cemetery records and obituaries. They also have photographs, quilts, books, maps, and antiques on display throughout the building.

Located on the west side of Sigourney, Legion Park is home to five picnic shelters, grills, playground, basketball court, tennis court, horseshoe pits and the Municipal Swimming Pool.

It is also the final resting ground for the Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star #58-0579.

North East Corner of Courthouse Lawn, Downtown Sigourney. The fountain was a gift to the town of Sigourney from Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Lewis in memory of their daughter Ethel Beatrix. The three-pooled fountain was dedicated in 1940, and is in operation May through September featuring a spectacular, rotating light show.
