Accessibility Statement
We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to everyone. The City of Sigourney is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance or ability.
To fulfill this commitment, we are actively reviewing our website to align as closely as possible with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Following these standards helps us ensure that our website is inclusive for all visitors.
What Are We Currently Doing to Improve Accessibility?
We recently conducted a full website audit to identify non-compliant elements and are now in the process of addressing the issues identified. Our current efforts include:
Adding descriptive alt-tags to all images
Fixing empty links to improve navigation
Removing or correcting empty headings
Ensuring headings follow a logical order
Adding proper labels to form fields
Improving color contrast ratios for better readability
Exploring and implementing additional accessibility features as resources and budget allow
Third-Party Links
This accessibility statement applies only to the official City of Sigourney website. While we may link to external websites, the accessibility of those sites is the responsibility of their respective owners and is not managed or controlled by the City of Sigourney.
